Wintery Weekend

This past weekend was a total blast! We weren't sure what we were going to do on Friday, so early that day I sent a text to my old Connecticut friend Alyssa, asking if they wanted to go out to eat with us. She informed me that they were planning on going up to one of her husband's parents cabins in Cascade and that we should join them!! So we made the trip up there after work and got to hang out with these cute people!

Their 1 1/2 year old Bryson is just the cutest! He was a little shy at first, but we became bff's quick! He was SOOOO excited to go snowmobiling!

Bryson enjoying the snow :)

My first time snowmobiling! It was so much fun!

Alyssa is basically a pro!

We left later on Saturday and were so grateful to have made the last minute trip with them! Hopefully we can all get together again soon!

On the drive back we saw at least a dozen dear, so I just grabbed a picture!

From Cascade, we went and picked up Zach&Kelsey and headed to Bogus Basin to get our snowboarding/skiing on!

We had quite the eventful weekend & had so much fun with good friends!

Our day of loooove :)

I started off Valentine's day by bringing my hard-working, getting up before 5am, sexy, super strong, hubby some homemade blueberry muffins before I went in to work! Then when I got back from work I came home to this:
He's so sweet!

Christina is a sweetheart and made these lovely/delicious treats for us:

And below is what I had set up for Jonathan when he got back home from some later appointments that night:

(I got him a blue Under Armor shirt...  he's obsessed with Under Armor these days)

I had only candles for our lighting!

I also grabbed us our fav, Costa Vida, on my way home!

Jonathan loved it when he joined me for the rest of the night! He also informed me that my main gift is a long weekend of my choice to fly home & see my family so that's a super sweet surprise!!

After we ate by candlelight we brought the guest-room mattress downstairs into our new Movie Theatre room (we finally bought a projector!) and had a super comfy movie night!

It was awesome! I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my day (except for maybe neither of us having to work at all!) so I guess I should say I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my evening! I've got the greatest Valentine in the world & he's mine for forever!!!

Sad day...

Yesterday Connor found out results of getting an MRI done for an accident that happened last week on the soccer field at a scrimmage just before the first game of his last season of high school soccer. Turns out he tore his ACL & will most likely need surgery & will be out for the whole season before it even began. Breaks my heart, I just love that kid. I know he's pretty bummed & I just feel awful for him.

But he's a stud, I know he'll get through this & be ok and be a great support to his team in the mean time. Get better soon Connor!

Dinner & a movie... well kind of!

On Saturday we ended up not being able to go to Bogus for snowboarding due to a work emergency that Kels&Zach had to take care of, so we met up later with them & Natalie&Jarryd and went out to eat at Chilies. The service was pretty awful & we waited about 40 mins for our food, but luckily I enjoyed the company :)

Our men agreed to take us to see The Vow! , but we had some time to kill before the showing so we went to my favorite (U-Swirl!) and got a yummy treat, then made our way to the theatre to watch a "yummy treat!" (AKA Channing Tatum)

This would be Jarryd taking great care of Natalie's coat, as he dragged it on the floor all the way into the theatre! We just had to grab a picture cause it was hilarious!

Well as it turns out, halfway through the movie, someone in the theatre decided to either have a legit emergency or to pull a prank & pull the fire alarm. Regardless, everyone at Edward's had to evacuate the building immediately & we got jipped out of the ending of the show! Some 20 mins or so after evacuating, they passed out movie passes and we may or may not have snuck a couple more to feel completely reimbursed for incident ;)
At least it made for another interesting adventure with friends!!

After that we headed back to Z&K's for a rematch of the Newlywed game we've been obsessed with playing (when I say we I mostly mean just us girls!) It was a great night!

Fun with Friends

We've been having so much fun lately with friends & I love it! Last weekend we went with Zach&Kelsey and Jarryd&Natalie to the hot springs in Banks, ID. First we all piled into Jonathan's truck & we went out for dinner at a kinda gross restaurant in Horseshoe Bend, and then made our way to the bottom of the mountain where we then proceeded to climb up the slippery/icy/snowy/rocky slope to the top where the 3 pools of hot springs are. It was quite the adventure! It was about a 20 min hike up & some parts were intense but we had so much fun! We hiked by the light of the moon & then the springs of course were relaxing, where we just hung out & talked & met a few {drunk}weirdos up there. But then we had to make our way down the mountain, which in my opinion was the hardest! I was all relaxed and tired from the hot water but still had 20 mins at least before we would get to the car. There were a few bad falls (3 of which were Jonathan crashing down super hard on the same elbow!) It was soooo funny, but I still felt bad. Needless to say, we all slept like babies when we got home that night!

From the picture above you see they're called the Skinner Dipper Hot Springs, but I'm happy to say no naked people we're seen there that night (at least not that I saw!)

For the past Mondays we also have all been getting together or at least texting the whole time we're watching this horribly awkward/entertaining tv show together:
It makes it more fun to be able to make fun of the contestants together :)

And this week, Kelsey came over and joined me in an intense leg workout that my body is still recovering from, then we made a spinach smoothie & waited for our men to join us for dinner and:

And this weekend we've got plans to get together for dinner & games at Z&K's & then Saturday we're planning on going night skiing at Bogus Basin! I can't wait... it's been a while since I've snow boarded last so I'll probably suck it up & fall a lot, but hopefully we can go more often, since it's only ten bucks!

I love having fun couple friends :)

Spinach Smoothies

So when we were in Utah, Ashley introduced me to Spinach smoothies. I'd heard of people doing them but never tried them till this weekend, & I have to say, they're good! When I got back home I put my own little twists to it & this is what I came up with.

I use mostly Orange juice (maybe 3/4 cup) & a little bit of milk (1/4cup)

Four frozen strawberries

& I also throw in a clump or two of this mango, peach & pineapple mix to add more flavors

and then I do a big handful of spinach! ***Ashley also taught me a trick to keep my spinach to last longer, wrap it in paper towels. It helps soak up moisture so the spinach doesn't get all smushed!

Now, these pictures are only after one or two seconds in the blender, so it still looks pretty.... once you have it all the way blended it kind of has a nasty {vomit} look to it, but you just have to get past it!

I really don't even taste the spinach at all, cause honestly I don't really even like spinach, but this taste really good, I love the texture & it's good for you & it keeps me full.

So thanks Ashley for my new health food kick! Love it!

Utah Trip

This past weekend we randomly decided we wanted to go to Utah! Jonathan had been wanting to go visit his friend/old mission buddy Garret Hanselman, & I've been wanting to visit friends & family. Plus we just wanted to get a away for a bit, so did just that! Garret & his wife Ashley were so sweet to let us stay with them in their lovely home. Ashley is great & I'm so glad to have made another friend.
We got in late Friday night so I just went to bed & the boys stayed up talking & catching up. Then on Saturday we slept in & the four of us went to the gym (for seriously TWO hours!). It was the longest period of time I've ever spent working out, so I paced myself! But Garret & Jonathan had a good time working out together, they're both really into it, & in fact are doing a body building competition together at the end of March in Salt Lake so we'll get to see them again soon! I'm glad they were able to have the workout time together!
After the gym we did some grocery shopping & came back & made some good food. In the meantime Garret had mentioned how Ashley had lost her wedding band in the heating vents one time when she was cleaning, so Jonathan took it upon himself to find it! This is him in the crawlspace taking the vent/hose thing off:

He then dumped all of the junk in their into a bucket & low & behold:

Ashley's ring!! She was super excited!!

After that adventure we decided to do a little double date action & did some indoor putt-putt. I lost of course (I'm awful!) but we had so much fun. We then came back to the house & us girls put our comfies on & we played some games. This is the boys spinning their rings to see who's can last longest ***I should mention that in the process Jonathan's ring landed literally a millimeter away from the very same vent that Ashley's ring fell down! Ironic!***

This is the boys being a little too close in my opinion ;)

Then as Ashley & I were about to call it a night another mission buddy of theirs came to visit. Now I don't consider Jonathan to be a small guy, in fact, next to a lot of guys he's a big guy, however from the picture below you'll see otherwise in this comparison!!

They stayed up past 4am just catching up. I'm glad Jonathan got to have some "dude time" since he doesn't get that too much with me & two sisters.

On Sunday morning our friends Kat & Andrew invited us over for brunch where my other friends/old roommates Ali & Brit came over too. It was so great seeing them & catching up! I just wish we had more time!!

We then stopped by Natalie's apartment to see how grown up she is now!

She was even being a good cook! She really is all grown up now!

Luckily I introduced Crew to my in laws & now Crew & Natalie hang out all the time! I'm so glad they're friends! This is the first time I got to see him since I was at his setting apart two years ago! So glad to have him back in the states :)

They're goof-balls!

After seeing Natalie we started to make our way back to Boise, but we stopped by my Grampa's for a few hours (although I'm sad I didn't take any pictures!!), Austin was having his mission farewell party so we got to say goodbye/good luck to him as well as see everyone else that I love there! It's always great visiting my Grampa & Arlene, I just love them!

Overall, it was a great trip!! Can't wait for less than 2 months to be there again!
